The Art of the "Wild Child" Session | West TN Photographer

Working with toddlers requires a specific shift in mindset. You have to move at their speed which is usually either "full sprint" or "total standstill."

While these sessions are objectively "harder" than shooting adults, they are also the most rewarding. My goal is never to force a child into a stiff, uncomfortable pose. Instead, I practice active patience:

  • Waiting for the genuine laugh.

  • Letting them lead the way.

  • Capturing the personality, not just the outfit.

It might take a few extra minutes (and a few extra deep breaths), but capturing the essence of being three years old is a challenge I’ll take any day.
